Founded in 1967 to promote the study of all aspects of Victorian culture, the Victorian Studies Association of Ontario (VSAO) brings students and faculty, experts in the field and members of the public together for a series of interdisciplinary events throughout the year. The second oldest Victorian studies association in the world, we welcome new members with a wide range of interests in nineteenth-century Britain, including Art, History, Literature, Museum Studies, Library and Information Sciences, History of Science, and Empire and Postcolonial Studies.

Our goal is to promote active, intellectual engagement with Victorian culture, and in particular, to support the scholarship and professional development of both faculty and graduate students.

Our activities include:

• An annual, one-day conference in April, held in Toronto.
• Evening lectures and tours, followed by discussion, conversation, and refreshments.
• A sponsored panel of interdisciplinary papers for the annual Congress of the Social Sciences and Humanities conference.
• Support for architectural preservation, art gallery collections, library holdings, and other community issues relevant to the interests of Victorianists.
